Sure, the place has exquisite architecture and its heritage undoubtedly makes it highly acclaimed, but what more does the pink city have to offer beyond architecture?
The Mesmerizing City Jaipur
Wait a minute, do you know why Jaipur is called the Pink City in the first place?
Maharaja Sawai Ramsingh painted the entire city of Jaipur Pink, in 1876, to welcome the Prince of Wales and Crown Prince Albert. The color pink has been associated with hospitality for ages, and what’s more, the city still stays pink by law.
We know right, Jaipur surely knows how to welcome people and win their hearts- In India we have this saying “ATITHI DEVO BHAVA” which means “Guest is God” and all around the world we are known for our warm hospitality.
Interesting Fact- Have you noticed that our Theme is also Pink 🙈- Now you do!! JUST LIKE OUR CITY- WE ALSO KNOW HOW TO WIN OUR FAMILY’S HEART, PINK COLOR SHOWS OUR LOVE, CARE AND AFFECTION FOR OUR KARIGAR FAMILY WHICH GETS STRONGER WITH TIME!
Ethnic Street Markets
But what we thought set Jaipur apart was its regalness when it came to handicrafts and of course, its ethnic street markets.
Jaipur’s street markets are a shopper’s paradise. Just to give you an idea about what these street markets offer, let me list them out for you. Right from jewelry, bangles, handicrafts, home decor, to even pottery and designer souvenirs.
You name it, we have it.
The art of Meenakari is often associated with Regal Art in not just Jaipur, but all over the world. Meenakari is the art of enameling on the surface of metal jewelry by carving out intricate patterns.
The Traditional artisans of meenakari consider it to be their hereditary craft and are often reluctant to share their knowledge with outsiders preferring to keep their secrets within their family.
The artistry is simply so sophisticated and elegant that each piece turns out to be a masterpiece in itself. Apart from the gems and stones of Jaipur, the work of these artisans are admired all over the world.
When it comes to traditional Indian Jewelry, even International buyers favor Jaipur.
All this proof about its greatness just cemented the fact that buying a piece of jewelry from Jaipur would undoubtedly be an expensive endeavor. But surprisingly, it’s not!
The reason for the low cost is the fact that most jewelers in Jaipur are manufacturers themselves and therefore sell their products at wholesale prices.
